Alia Bhatt is India’s first global Gucci ambassador

Fashion

The global superstar is on the cards for Alia Bhatt, who has just been announced as Gucci’s first Global Ambassador in India. Coming off of her successful red carpet debut at the 2023 Met Gala, the most guarded fashion event of the year, Bhatt was perhaps the obvious choice for an expansion into the fashion space.

The acclaimed star, whose performance in the recent Golden Globe-nominated film RRR followed the spotlight all over the world, made major changes on the world stage. She may have become a familiar face in Hollywood with Stone heart, but Alia Bhatt has been on the radar for just a minute and now she’s ready to conquer fashion.

The star will make her first foray into the fashion industry by attending Gucci’s upcoming Cruise 2024 showcase in Seoul, South Korea. She will join the ranks of global Gucci ambassadors such as Dakota Johnson, Hanni of K-pop group NewJeans and Harry Styles.

Apart from Bhatt, so far only a handful of Indian faces have explored fashion territory on such a global scale, including Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. This new move of a mega luxury house, following competitors, may signal a change in the global perception of the power of Indian talent.
