Aquaman 2 shazam 2 release dates from warner bros
Warner Bros. is once again shaking up the DC release calendar.
After the Aquaman sequel was pushed back from December 16, 2022 to March 17, 2023, the DC installment is pushed back to December 25, 2023 again. That’s the same release window as the original premiere date of December 2022, following the first film’s 2018 holiday debut.
Now in DC Shuffle Shazam! Fury of the Gods will take over Aquaman 2’s vacant premiere date, this time pushed back to March 17, 2023 after it was first announced to open on December 16 this year (the original Aquaman sequel date).
In addition to the DC game of musical chairs, two HBO Max titles are now also experiencing cinema premieres: “House Party” is scheduled for December 9, 2022, “Evil Dead Rise” starts on April 21, 2023. The upcoming Warner Bros. Zu titles now also include The Nun 2 as part of The Conjuring franchise, which is slated for September 8, 2023, along with Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot, which is pushed back to a TBD date in 2023 (its original release was scheduled for April 21st, 2023).
An untitled “Warner Bros.” event film is also slated for release on February 10, 2023 over Super Bowl weekend.
After confirming that “Batgirl” will be shelved indefinitely after it was originally slated for an HBO Max release and that the future of the DCU depends on “The Flash” despite lead actor Ezra Miller’s multiple arrests and allegations of abuse, the release calendar seems bright to reflect the imbalance and push for a Kevin Feige-like leader overseeing all of DC.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav previously clarified during the company’s Q2 2022 conference call that the cancellation of Batgirl is part of a plan to “bring Warner back and make great, high-quality movies,” with the mission to “protect the DC brand”. .”
“We have some great DC movies ahead of us: ‘Black Adam’, ‘Shazam!’ and ‘Flash’. We’re working on all of that. We’ve seen them and we think they’re great and that we can make them even better,” said Zaslav.
