Bing Chat has been updated with chat history, graphs, and video overlay features: all the details

Technology

Bing Chat has been updated with support for features such as chat history, charts, visuals, video overlays, privacy improvements, and the ability to export answers. Microsoft announced some great upgrades to its generative AI tool earlier this month and has now confirmed that they will roll out to users. The company announced on May 4 that it would eliminate its queue and expand access to Bing chat to all users, and previously imposed restrictions on query requests were silently lifted.

In a recent post on the Microsoft Bing blogs, the company revealed that it has begun rolling out the much-anticipated chat history feature for Bing Chat. You can now see your previous chat threads with the AI chat bot on the right of the chat window and continue an old conversation. You can also rename, delete, export, or even share a chat thread with other users. OpenAI released the official ChatGPT app for iOS last week, which also features conversation history support across devices.

A big privacy improvement added to Bing chat is the ability to exclude conversation logs related to files on your computer – or content that isn’t part of Microsoft’s search index. This function will prevent personal data from being included in the data used to train these generative AI tools.

Bing chat can also accompany responses that contain numbers or stats with charts and visuals, according to Microsoft. This means that asking about a listed company’s stock price, or ranking cities in a country by population, will see a chatbot providing graphs along with text results. Meanwhile, the visuals that appear at the bottom of text-based answers for recipe-related queries have also been improved.

Google has proven its ability to transfer results from its Bard chatbot to Google Docs, Gmail, and other services, and now Microsoft has launched a similar export feature that allows users to send their chat results to a Microsoft Word document, text file, or PDF.

Microsoft says it has also updated Bing chat with a new overlay for results that include a video response. This will allow you to watch videos in full screen, and navigate the video using the timestamps on the right side of the screen. Bing chat will also automatically suggest words when you type prompts, according to the company.

Google I/O 2023 saw the search giant tell us over and over again that it cares about artificial intelligence, along with the launch of its first Pixel-branded foldable phone and tablet. This year, the company will power its apps, services, and Android operating system with artificial intelligence technology. We discuss this and more on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast.
