Colorado man tries to trade places with dog to avoid DUI arrest
Colorado police say a driver, who was pulled over for speeding, tried to switch places with his dog to avoid arrest
SPRINGFIELD, Colorado — A driver, who was pulled over for speeding, tried to switch places with his dog to avoid arrest, Colorado police said.
An officer watched him maneuver inside the car before exiting the passenger side on Saturday evening in Springfield, a town of about 1,300 people on the state’s Eastern Plains, police said Sunday in a Facebook post.
The man said he was not driving and clearly showed signs of being drunk, police said. He ran away from the officer when asked how much he had been drinking and was caught about 20 yards (18 yards), police said.
After being taken to hospital for examination, the man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and impaired driving, along with warrants for previous stops.
