Delhi’s IGI airport best airport in India, South Asia; Singapore’s Changi ranks #1 in the world. Full list here
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has received the award for the best airport in India and South Asia, according to a report from the international air transport rating organization Skytrax.
Singapore’s Changi Airport has been named the world’s best airport in 2023, followed by Doha Hamad Airport. In 2022, Singapore was ranked No. 3 while Doha Hamad was ranked No. 1.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are based on an annual global customer satisfaction survey conducted from August 2022 to February 2023.
It evaluates airport service customer experience and product key performance indicators from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration to departure at the gate, according to the release.
According to the Skytrax release, Delhi airport is the only Indian airport to feature in the top 50 airports around the world. In the list of World’s Top 100 Airports 2023, Delhi airport ranks 36th and has risen from 37th position in 2022. The other Indian airport on the list is Hyderabad airport, which won awards as the best regional airport and best airport staff in India and South Asia. Hyderabad airport ranks at No. 65, down from 63 in 2022. The third Indian airport is Bengaluru which ranks at No. 69, down from No. 61 in 2022. At No. 84, Mumbai airport saw a significant drop compared to last year. In 2022, Mumbai airport was ranked 65.
The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), a consortium led by GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd, operates IGIA, which is also the largest airport in the country.
