Fans Claim Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Merch Fades Dramatically After One Wash
Tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour aren’t the only thing fans covet – so are the sweatshirts, t-shirts and other merchandising items available at each tour summit to wear proudly and to serve as a keepsake that you have to attend the highly anticipated tour and sing along with every word. However, some fans – many of whom waited hours to get their t-shirts – are finding the product doesn’t quite live up to their expectations and are sharing their disappointment on TikTok.
One shirt, in particular, seems to have some issues after the wash: the exclusive main tour t-shirt, a colorful cotton t-shirt that features glimpses of Taylor in each of his eras and his B&W version. Countless Swifties have posted their experiences with the merchandise on the platform, including user kyliemeagan, whose $45 t-shirt faded and distorted after one wash, as did tiktoktara819 and through_tylis_eyes.

After washing, the Taylors seem to fade and some users have noticed that the black dye from the lettering bleeds onto the cotton shirt. “I’ve been a fan all my life. I’ll probably never go to a Taylor Swift concert again,” Tyli said of her disappointment.
Fan daphneorta’s shirt looked particularly distressed after just one wash, with some of the Taylors almost looking like photo negatives due to the heavy fading. While many fans say they don’t regret their purchase, they are disappointed with the quality at such a high price for a cotton T-shirt.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to preserve and care for your clothes, like turning them inside out, washing them cold or delicates, and skipping the dryer when possible. Some reviewers have even advised “setting the ink” by ironing it under a piece of parchment paper. However, user raighsunshine, who also noticed the same issues on his tee, expressed frustration at the lack of quality while stressing that care shouldn’t be the responsibility of fans.
“To everyone saying I should have backed it with parchment paper, why should we be the ones to keep a $50 shirt?” she wrote. “I did everything I normally do to take care of my clothes and it faded again.” Other fans said they noticed holes in their t-shirts soon after buying them, but did not share videos of them.

It’s worth noting that graphic t-shirts tend to fade with washing and wear, and there’s nothing cooler than a genuinely worn concert t-shirt, but such intense fading after a wash can be a little shocking.
However, not all users experience discoloration. Taylor fan momandadley’s beige t-shirt “survived” the wash, as she documented in a suspenseful reveal after taking it out of the wash. Other fans took the opportunity to poke fun at the situation with Taylor-centric jokes, including one that teased that the problem was In fact an easter egg and that Tay’s next album would be called Molten. Another joked that if you keep washing the shirt you’ll find the release date of Speak now (Taylor’s version), who, LOL.
