Florence Welch Reacts To Dog Days Over In Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 – The Hollywood Reporter

Entertainment

Not to give away too much, but there is a cathartic sight in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which features various characters and residents of Knowhere jubilantly dancing to Florence + the Machine’s hit song “Dog Days Are Over”. The spectacle of the climax and the fall of the emotional needle will make even the blackest of hearts beat with a little emotion.

On Monday, Florence + the Machine lead Florence Welch posted a video on TikTok of her reacting to the scene and using her song. In the clip, Welch immediately starts crying upon hearing “The dog days are over.” In the caption for the post, she wrote, “So I cried throughout this movie but when Guardians of the Galaxy I started dancing to ‘Dog Days’ I really missed it”.

Welch adds, “Thank you so much for all your love for this moment. The little superhero geek in me can’t believe this happened.”

So I cried throughout that movie, but when Guardians of the Galaxy started dancing to Dog Days, I really lost it. Thank you so much for all the love for this moment. The little superhero geek in me can’t believe it happened x

The days of the dogs are over – Florence + the Machine

Released in 2008, “Dog Days Are Over” is one of the British band’s biggest hits, reaching No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 23 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was the second single from Florence + the Machine’s debut album lungs.

After featuring prominently in Guardians 3, “Dog Days Are Over” will likely see a huge increase in people streaming the song on platforms like Spotify. Kate Bush’s 1985 single “Running Up That Hill” skyrocketed the streaming charts after starring in an important scene from Netflix’s fourth season. Weird things last year.
