Ind vs Pak, Asia Cup 2023: Will Ishan Kishan make way for KL Rahul? A look at India’s predicted XI against Pakistan
India and Pakistan will play their second match against each other in this year’s Asia Cup today after the first match was washed out due to rain. While a confident looking Pakistan side have announced their team for the upcoming match against the arch nemesis, India still have some answered questions they will need to resolve before choosing their final side that will play today.
Wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has joined the Indian setup after being away from the game for a long time owing to the injury he suffered during this year’s IPL. Rahul is expected to regain his place in the Indian side as a wicketkeeper batter, meaning the inform Ishan Kishan might have to sit out.
Kishan has been in outstanding touch in 2023 and has scored 4 consecutive half-centuries in the last 4 encounters while also managing to get a double-century this year. Moreover, in the last game against Pakistan, Kishan’s 82 run knock played a crucial role in stabilizing the Indian innings and getting the team to a score of over 250 runs, after a shaky start.
Apart from left-hander, with Jasprit Bumrah is also set to take back his place in the Indian XI after missing the game against Nepal owing to the birth of his first child. Indian pacer Mohammad Shami is expected to make way for Bumrah.
Additonally, left-handed spinner Axar Patel is also expected to get a chance in favour of Shardul Thakur if the surface is dry. Thakur bowled just 4 over for 26 runs during the game against Nepal while giving away 26 runs in the process and taking a wicket.
Here’s a look at India’s predicted XI, according to Hindustan Times.
India’s predicted XI against Pakistan:
Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (W/K), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel ,Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah Mohammed Siraj
