Jason Momoa proudly accepts the NBCUniversal Peacock logo and streamer.
The ‘Fast X’ star, part 10 of Universal Pictures’ ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, has confirmed his long-held status as (one of) the film’s villains.
“Finally, I’m the bad guy. I’ve been the good guy for a while,” the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom actor told Variety.
Momoa added of his character, “He’s very sadistic and androgynous and he’s a bit of a peacock. He’s got a lot of problems, this guy. He definitely has some dad issues.”
But Momoa had the “time of my life” on set with co-stars Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Cardi B and Fast and Furious mainstays Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Sung Kang, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster , Tyrese Gibson and Nathalie Emmanuel.
Fast X is being directed by Lupine and Now You See Me boss Louis Leterrier after Fast and Furious franchise director Justin Lin left production, ostensibly over an alleged falling out with lead actor Diesel. Fast X is scheduled for release on May 19, 2023. However, there’s no word yet on whether the film will release a day and date on NBCU streamer Peacock, as recently announced “Halloween Ends.”
Momoa’s DC sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, is also slated for a 2023 premiere, with a December 25 release (just pushed back from March 17). The film reunites Momoa with former Justice League co-star Ben Affleck, who reprises his role as Batman.
But Momoa is staying out of the Marvel vs. DC debates as the Warner Bros. Discovery franchise changes its release lineup, including postponing “Batgirl” indefinitely and alleged meetings to refine the marketing strategy for “The Flash” by lead cast Ezra to discuss Miller’s multiple arrests.
“I don’t think Marvel has an Aquaman and we don’t have Guardians of the Galaxy, we don’t have Thor,” Momoa told The Wrap. “I think we should just enjoy the films that we’ve all worked so hard to make. I look at Robert Downey [Jr.] and [Chris] Hemsworth is amazing, they’re just my brothers out there making great content. So I’m not really comparing myself. There is only one me, brother.”
