Reliance Jio said that they have launched their high-speed 5G services in a total of 34 new cities in India. This brings their total coverage to 365 cities. Jio reiterated that Jio 5G will cover every city in the country by December 2023.

Below is a table of the names of the cities where Jio 5G services will be launched:

“We are proud to roll out Jio True 5G in these 34 cities. This is a tribute to millions of Jio users in these cities who will come to enjoy the benefits of Jio True 5G technology. Jio engineers are working around the clock to deliver True-5G to every Indian, so that the transformative power and exponential benefits of this technology can be experienced by every citizen of the country,” said a Jio spokesperson.

“This is a testament to Jio’s commitment to transform India into a digital society. We remain grateful to the state governments and administrators for their support to digitize their regions,” the spokesperson added.

Notably, telecom service providers in India started offering high-speed 5G services in the country from October 2022.

The government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers in August 2022, asking them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services in the country.

Department of Telecom had received total bids worth 1.50 lakh crore from the 5G spectrum auction.

What is 5G and how does it differ from the current 3G and 4G service creams?

5G is the fifth generation mobile network that can transmit a large data set at very high speed.

Compared to 3G and 4G, 5G has very low latency, which will improve user experience in various industries. Low latency describes the efficiency of processing a very large number of data messages with minimal delay.

The rollout of 5G is also expected to drive further development in remote data monitoring in mining, storage, telemedicine and manufacturing, among others.
