Universal Pictures is set to release DreamWorks Animation’s new original movie, Robbie Gelman, Teenage Kraken In theaters on June 30.
Academy Award nominee Kirk DeMicco directed the film, with Farren Pearl as co-director. The voice cast includes Lana Condor in the titular role, Toni Collette as her overprotective mother, and Jane Fonda as Robbie’s commanding grandmother, plus Colman Domingo, Annie Murphy, Sam Richardson, and Blue Chapman.
DiMicco was nominated for an Academy Award for DreamWorks Animation’s Croods And the newest helmet vivo, Lin Manuel-Miranda Musical Animation for Netflix. And Jane Fonda will return to the world of animation after taking on the lead role last year luck Skydance Animation.
The coming-of-age movie was originally called Meet Gilman. Condor plays Ruby Gilman, a shy high school student desperate to fit in, only to find that she is a direct descendant of the Kraken warrior queens and inherits the throne from her commanding grandmother, the Warrior Queen of the Seven Seas.
The supporting cast also includes Will Forte, Nicole Bayer, Lisa Koshy, Jabuki Young-White, Ramona Young, Eduardo Franco and Echo Kellum.
