Man cries as he is asked to walk his granddaughter down the aisle in viral video
A video of a grandfather being asked to walk his granddaughter down the aisle on her wedding day has gone viral on TikTok, where it has garnered over 649,000 views and 65,000 likes at the time of this writing.
The video which has not been independently verified by news week, was shared by TikTok user @tenealeske, who said: “I’ve dreamed of this moment with my grandfather since I was a little girl [teary eyed face emoji],” in a message superimposed over the video.
According to a study published in August 2015 Research on child indicators Magazine, in addition to parents, grandparents also play a crucial role in the well-being of children.
The study states, “Previous research has found that grandparents exert a significant direct or indirect influence on their grandchildren’s outcomes, including increased survival, and positive influences on children’s nutrition and mental health.”
Further studies have shown that the quality of a parent-child relationship is related to the grandparent-grandchild relationship. The study mentioned above states that “the emotional and social strength of the grandchild-grandparent relationship mitigated the negative effects of an emotionally distant relationship with the parents”.
The latest viral TikTok clip shows the user’s grandfather seated at a table while receiving a card to read. He can be seen visibly in tears as the message on the video read, “I finally have to ask him to walk me down the aisle next to my dad.”
As the crying grandfather is comforted by an elderly woman next to him, the user’s message in the video read, “He is the most precious person with whom I have shared a very special bond throughout my life.”
The message concluded: “He has shown me so much love and support. I can’t wait to share my special moment with him next year. I love him so much.”
Several TikTokers were moved by the latest video, and many remembered their own grandfathers who had passed away.
In a comment that received 1,100 likes, user Victoria Herna said, “I’m not emotionally stable for this beautiful moment.”
Abbie Lee wrote: “What a beautiful moment. I miss my pop.”
Finn remarked, “Grandpas are very special people.”
Michelle Barnes990 said: “I miss my grandpa. make beautiful moments [these] precious memories.”
Britt Smith wrote: “I’m in tears. This is so special, I wish mine was still here so I could ask him the same thing in the future. I hope you have a beautiful wedding.”
Kirsty said: “Awh, that really hit me. I would kill for this moment. Enjoy every minute when you can.”
