This footage shows an explosion on a boat in Florida that nearly ripped the ship in two and injured four people.

A woman was airlifted to the hospital, injuring a total of four people, after the explosion occurred on the speedboat at a Florida marina.

CCTV footage from a nearby building shared by the Daytona Beach Police Department shows the moment the rear half of a speedboat exploded Sunday, August 21, sending flames and debris into the air.

The shock wave was so powerful that it appeared to rip off the top half of the boat almost cleanly, with fire pouring out of the rear of the boat as the explosion took place.

People seen at the back of the boat appeared to have been struck by the blast, but they appear to have miraculously stopped afterward, although they reportedly sustained injuries.

The incident, which injured four unnamed people, took place at the Halifax Harbor Marina, located in the city of Daytona Beach on Florida’s Atlantic coast.

Police said three of the injured refused transport to the hospital, while a woman who suffered severe burns had to be flown to a nearby trauma center in Orlando.

The woman, reportedly in her 50s, had burns on her right side, including her shoulder, arm and leg.

The footage was obtained by Zenger News from the Daytona Beach Fire Department, along with a statement that said: “Safety video captures the moment this boat exploded and caught fire.

“Daytona Beach Firefighters responded to the Halifax Harbor Marina over a boat fire that broke out shortly after boaters refueled. Four people were injured and one was flown to an Orlando hospital with burns.”

Local resident Vincent Kraus told the media he was getting onto the water from the marina around 1 p.m. when he saw the boat explode.

Kraus said: “We were out to help them make sure everything was okay, but it was rescued there before. The boat that exploded has now been towed out of the marina.”

Boater and witness Laurie Brennan said: “I could see the bow stern and part of the spine. It was a very large ship.”

While another witness, Ilene Jones, added: “It’s sad to see more than anything. Someone was definitely having a bad day.”
