One Piece creator posts update on Netflix live-action series, says ‘setting sail very soon’

Entertainment

Good news for all anime fans. Netflix is all set to plunge into the blue sea of ”One Piece” with the live-action film with Tomorrow Studios. Fans have been eagerly awaiting an update since the series was first announced. Now, they’ll be happy to know that One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has personally released a new message regarding the show. Yes, you read that correctly. Oda previously said he wasn’t sure if a live-action adaptation could really work, but his view has now completely changed.

The letter reads, “I’ve been working with Tomorrow Studios and Netflix for some time now. Although they understand each of the characters, we obviously come from very different cultures, so when it comes to entertainment we have different codes, skill sets and goals.” Sometimes, it can be frustrating for both sides. I felt like, ‘We’re all trying to get to the same place, so how come we don’t have the same wavelength?’ There was a time when I even thought, ‘Is foreign production possible?'”

He further says that this may seem like it happened overnight, but “we’ve been working so hard all along. Now everything works together like it should. Finally, we’re here!”

Given my life expectancy, I think this is the last chance to bring One Piece out into the world at large. If we’re going to do that, I want to be able to oversee things while still being active. That’s why I agreed to live-action One Piece back in 2016… We are now in the final process of finishing all 8 episodes! We will be sailing very soon!”

When will One Piece be released?
