Oscars 2023: How did Tims respond to criticism of her controversial dress? Discover
At the 95th Academy Awards, Tim’s red carpet outfit was one of the most talked about outfits on social media and more. She was nominated in the Best Original Song category for her work on Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The Nigerian singer-songwriter looked glamorous on the red carpet in a white, billowing gown with a high slit and a generous portion of the same draped around her back. This outfit has received both praise and criticism from social media users. While some praise Tems for her eye-catching looks, others feel sad for the people behind the singer who can’t watch the ceremony.
Here’s what Tims has to respond to people criticizing her controversial dress.
Thames responded to the criticism
Thames quickly became the subject of criticism as the Oscars photo went viral as people seated behind the singer-songwriter struggled to see the stage because the bulging part of her over-the-head dress completely obstructed their view.
On March 13, 2023, The Times hit back at people who criticized her controversial red carpet dress. She shared photos of Oscar night on Instagram with the cheeky caption, “Oh oh.” Tems also doubled down on telling people she was still unfazed by the comments as she posted another set of photos to Twitter with the caption “Oops” along with a shy emoji. The Nigerian singer-songwriter made it clear through her subdued responses that she remains unfazed by what people say.
Some fans even defended the Tems dress by saying that the criticism carried racial prejudice. This is because earlier when white celebrities like Lady Gaga wore the dress with a distressed look they weren’t criticized.
