Security forces neutralize terrorist in J&K’s Baramulla
In an ongoing encounter operation, the Jammu and Kashmir security forces neutralized another terrorist in the Karhama Kunzer area of Baramulla. An encounter broke out on Thursday between terrorists and security forces in the Wanigam Payeen Kreeri area of Jammu and Kashmir’ Baramulla.
Later, a terrorist was killed during the encounter in the Karhama Kunzer area of Baramulla, J&K police said on Saturday.
The local police informed about the situation in a tweet, saying an encounter started in the Karhama Kunzer area of Baramulla, and said more details will be provided soon.
Earlier, the Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet, “#Encounter has commenced in the Karhama Kunzer area of #Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details to follow. @JmuKmrPolice.”
The Kashmir Zone police gave the information about the encounter operation that started on Thursday and tweeted that the J&K police and security forces are working to mow down the terrorists at the site.

Two terrorists were killed by security forces during an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The neutralization was followed by an encounter that broke out on Wednesday morning between terrorists and the security forces near Pichnad Machil area in Kupwara district.
The officials informed about the encounter of two terrorists and said that Kupwara Police and Indian Army are conducting a search operation to find other terrorists. “Two terrorists were killed in the encounter and the search is ongoing,” officials said.
The security personnel initiated an operation based on input from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara. The SSP was alerted to the infiltration by the terrorist launch pads from across the Line of Control to the Machhal sector, said Defense Public Relations Officer (PRO) Srinagar.
Subsequent troops were put on high alert on 1 May. According to the official statement, troops were alerted and ambushed to hunt down the terrorists infiltrating from all over the LOC.
“A well-coordinated counter-infiltration grid was established in the extremely difficult area. The Indian Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) Kupwara were also deployed along the possible routes of the infiltration. The ambushed alert troops braved persistent inclement weather marked by incessant rainfall, poor visibility and a significant drop in temperature for two consecutive nights,” the statement said.
The troops followed the infiltrated terrorists around 8:30 am on Wednesday morning. An intense firefight broke out between the two sides and led to the elimination of two terrorists, the statement said. Security forces have recovered the dead bodies of two terrorists, along with two AK-series rifles, magazines and a huge cache of weapons and ammunition.
