The Classroom has been renewed for a second season after the first season dominated the streaming charts on Netflix India
Chapter, which was released February 3 on Netflix to critical acclaim and strong performance on the global streaming platform, has been renewed for a second season. Netflix has announced that Class has been greenlighted for a second season, after its strong performance as the series topped India’s list for five consecutive weeks, and also broke into the global top 10. Class is an Indian adaptation of the Spanish show Elite, featuring three students from middle-class and disadvantaged backgrounds who receive scholarships to attend a prestigious international school.
The series, which features an ensemble cast of young actors including Piyush Khati, Gurfateh Pirzada, Cwaayal Singh and Madhyama Segal, covers the topics of caste division and wealth inequality in India, with a focus on activities that take place at Delhi’s Hampton International School. In class, new scholarship students are drawn into an investigation after a schoolboy is murdered, while facing discrimination from their wealthier and more influential classmates.
Even though the chapter has been renewed for a second season, there isn’t much to share at the moment. Netflix has yet to confirm the season 2 release date, any cast changes, and even plot details, but viewers can expect season 2 to pick up where the first left off.
While a second season is likely a long way off, Netflix has a busy March schedule already planned out.
Netflix India’s next big release will be Rana Naidu on March 10, a series starring Rana Daggubati, and American TV series Ray Donovan. Next, viewers can also look forward to Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, a thriller starring Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal, which is expected to be released on the streaming platform on March 24.
