News

Unrest continues in Manipur due to the SoO militants, the Peoples’ Action for National Democratic Movement (PAMDM) said on Sunday that the government’s silence on the current situation has made things difficult for the people living in the state, reported Imphal free press.

The Secretary General of PAMDM (the leadership) Brojendro Soraisam, speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, said that the perceived inaction of the government has led to alleged attacks on civilians by militant groups under the SoO to the illegal price hike of essential goods.

According to him, it is not the right time to wait for the initiative of the government to solve the problem, it is time to tackle all problems ‘yourself’.

Soraisam said villagers in the peripheral regions have started demanding weapons to defend themselves instead of relief supplies. Soraisam hit out at both the central and state governments, saying it is a pity that no action has been taken against those militants under SoO who are defying its basic rules.

Apart from the security issues, Soraisam pointed to the rise in the price of essential commodities and said that such illegal rise in the prices of commodities is an act of causing additional distress to the public.
